PPTA Rules and Procedures 1. Meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00am, with a music swap program and coffee fellowship starting at 9:30am, September through May at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Sewickley, PA 15143. There is no regular meeting in January. Check yearbook for dates. 2. Executive board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30am, September through May at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Sewickley, PA 15143. There is no board meeting in January. Check yearbook for dates. 3. Applicants for membership shall present satisfactory qualifications. Applicant shall be an active teacher with proper training who desires to join a professional organization to further his/her progress in music education and enjoy fellowship with other teachers. If applicant has previously met the requirements elsewhere, he or she will be accepted for membership. 4. Annual dues are $50 per member, $40 for members 65 and over, plus a $25 initiation fee for new members. Dues are payable in full by June 15th for the following year. Names of delinquent members shall not be carried in the next printing of the yearbook. 5. Members should notify the President of any birth, death, or illness within the membership. The Bereavement Fund as overseen by the Corresponding Secretary will be disbursed as follows: $50 for a member, $25 for a spouse, a sympathy card for any other member of the family or friend of the organization (as directed by the Board). 6. Members may be called upon to judge, do committee work, or serve the organization which in turn serves the students. 7. Competition deadlines are firm with no grace period. Chairmen will go by the postmark if mailed. Postmark must be on or before the due date. 8. A teacher must be a member of PPTA by December to enter students in the Solo and Duet competitions the following spring. A teacher must be a member of PPTA for two years to enter students in the College Scholarship Competition. 9. All competition prizes will be awarded, including performance, composition and scholarship. 10. Submissions to any composition competition must be 100% original, and the Board reserves the right to revoke any award granted for plagiarized work. 11. Professional courtesy requires that all members should respect and accept all decisions of the judge(s) for all competitions as final.
